  • Five Suspects Face Charges

The U.S. Department of Justice filed charges Tuesday against five people accused of planning an attack against Trump during the UFC mixed martial arts event held last Sunday at the White House.

According to court documents, the suspects allegedly organized a plan that involved the use of drones loaded with explosives and sniper teams.

Authorities identified the defendants as Tycen Proper, 19, a resident of Ohio; Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas, detained in California; Daniel Kenely Eskridge of Missouri; and Abraham Hermosillo Álvarez of Nebraska.

According to the investigation, each allegedly played different roles in the planning and coordination of the alleged attack.

Attack Against Trump Was Allegedly Coordinated in Encrypted Chats

The investigation began on June 10, when Ohio police went to Tycen Proper’s home, according to CNN.

The intervention occurred after the young man’s mother alerted authorities about weapons purchases and comments she considered concerning.

Court documents indicate that Tycen Proper allegedly spent $3,000 of his so-called “graduation money.”

That money was allegedly used to purchase a large amount of ammunition, weapons, extra magazines, and other items related to the alleged plan.

Authorities say the group began communicating through TikTok.

Later, the members allegedly moved to encrypted messaging apps.

On those platforms, they allegedly created different chat groups intended to coordinate sniper teams and drone operators.

They also allegedly discussed the selection of targets considered high value, including President Donald Trump.

The Alleged Plan Included Explosions and Coordinated Attacks

The complaints describe a strategy intended to cause a high number of victims during the UFC event held in Washington.

According to the documents, the group planned to launch several drones equipped with explosives against buildings and infrastructure near the White House.

The goal was allegedly to trigger nearly simultaneous explosions.

Authorities say those detonations were intended to cause panic among those attending the event.

According to the indictment, the suspects allegedly planned to direct the crowd toward specific areas where snipers would supposedly be positioned.

Their alleged objective was to maximize the number of victims by taking advantage of the confusion caused by the explosions.

The Defendants Face Federal Charges

Proper faces several federal charges in Ohio.

Among them is conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States.

For their part, Roa, Thomas, Eskridge, and Hermosillo Álvarez were charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The UFC event was held last Sunday on the grounds of the presidential residence.

The evening coincided with the celebration of President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

The activity brought together thousands of attendees and included a broad security deployment.

Federal authorities did not report any injuries or incidents during the celebration.

This case adds to other recent threats directed against the president.

According to available information, in April the Secret Service foiled an attempted attack during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

In addition, during the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump was the target of two assassination attempts.
